The biennial joint naval exercise hosted by Maritime Forces Pacific took place on and around Vancouver   Island from May 3 to 19. More than 2,000 sailors, soldiers,  airmen, and airwomen from the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and the United States  participated in a full spectrum of air, land, and sea tactical warfare training  with the aim of strengthening communication and coordination between coalition  forces.]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[HMCS <em>Toronto</em> has successfully stopped her fourth narcotics shipment in two months, as part of ongoing  counter-terrorism operations in the Arabian Sea.  During the search and inspection of a vessel by the ship&rsquo;s naval boarding team  on May 23, Toronto&rsquo;s crew recovered approximately 300 kilograms of heroin. The  narcotics were recovered without incident and will be destroyed.]]></description>

While all wild things were seeking refuge in  whatever cover they could find, a force was moving through the water. Many  would expect this force to be out of its element in this situation, but it is  in these conditions, in the dead of night, that the Canadian Forces Combat  Divers used their steadfast discipline and specialized training to prove their  worth.]]></description>
