4 Wing/CFB Cold Lake

There were 1,902 regular military, 102 reserve Class A and B forces and 373 civilian workers at 4 Wing/CFB Cold Lake at the end of December 2005.

Present Functions

The current functions of 4 Wing/CFB Cold Lake are to provide:

  • surveillance, protection and defence of North American airspace,
  • support to the NATO Flying Training Centre and cadets in the region.

  • 10 Field Technical Training Squadron,
  • 4 Airfield Defence detachment,
  • 4 Airfield Engineering Squadron
  • Aerospace Engineering Test Establishment.
