8 Wing Trenton

1. Reconstruct Taxiways and Aprons (South East)

Taxiways and aprons are parts of an airfield. The southeast apron at 8 Wing Trenton will be reconstructed so that it can support the weight of a CC-177 aircraft, which can weigh up to 256 tonnes.

2. Air Mobility Training Centre

This project will see the construction of a facility that will house the equipment and personnel required to train operators and maintainers of the C-130J aircraft.

3. Construct Training Accommodations

This sustainably designed project is part of an overall Departmental program to modernize Canadian Forces training accommodations across the country.

4. Construct Maintenance Hangar 1 for C-17

This project consists of the construction of a two bay maintenance hangar designed for the large C-17 Globemasters, as well as an interim taxiway providing access to runways throughout construction.

5. Construct Electrical/Mechanical Engineering (EME) and Transportation Garage

The facility will house and support all electrical mechanical engineering (EME) and transport requirements for the Wing.

6. Construct Aerospace and Telecommunications Engineering Support Squadron Refinishing Facility

The construction of a new refinishing facility will provide more adequate space to refinish aircraft structures in an effective, safe and environmentally responsible manner.

Completed CFDS Infrastructure Projects

1. Reconstruction of the northwest ramp

8 Wing Trenton saw the construction of a new northwest ramp and associated taxiway infrastructure, consisting of approx. 82,500m2 of concrete and 47,400 m2 of asphalt. This recapitalization provides more area for maneuvering, parking and loading aircraft, while providing adequate space to accommodate future Wing requirements.

2. Construct Materiel Distribution Centre

The addition is onto the east side of the current facility, which allows supply and cargo handling to be amalgamated on the flight line.
