May 11, 2012 – 8 WING/CFB TRENTON, ONT. – The Honourable Julian Fantino, Associate Minister of National Defence, joined by Lieutenant-General André Deschamps, Commander of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF), and members of 8 Wing Trenton, today welcomed the ahead-of-schedule arrival of Canada’s 17th and final new CC-130J Hercules aircraft, which will be put to work very soon in the vital tactical airlift role across the country and around the world.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Honourable Julian Fantino, Canada’s Associate Minister of National Defence, received his latest update regarding the continued progress of the multinational Joint Strike Fighter Program during a successful meeting with program partners. 

January 19, 2012 – The Honourable Julian Fantino, Associate Minister of National Defence, highlights an important milestone in Canada's contribution to the multinational Joint Strike Fighter program at Acorp in Delta, British Columbia. Minister Fantino discussed Canada's decision to participate in the development of new state-of-the-art F-35 aircraft with its allies to replace its aging CF-18 fleet, and the additional work our participation creates for Canadian workers. Today workers celebrated the crating of Canadian manufactured outboard wings for the F-35 Carrier Variant in service.

Today workers celebrated the shipment of Canadian manufactured EMAS positioners to the F-35 assembly line in Italy.

January 17, 2012 – The Honourable Peter MacKay, Minister of National Defence, and the Honourable Julian Fantino, Associate Minister of National Defence, announce Canada's Commitment to the Wideband Global Satellite Communications System. The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding will fill the strategic satellite communications requirement of the Canadian Forces over the next 20 years.
